The St. Clair High School girls soccer team has emerged as a surprising powerhouse after stepping up to the MAC White division in 2025. After an opening stretch that exposed them to a faster pace, the squad quickly adapted, turning early challenges into a foundation for success.
A Rapid Ascent
The Saints closed the 2026 regular season with a 14‑2‑2 overall record and a perfect 12‑0‑0 mark within the MAC White, finishing the year with a 15‑game conference winning streak that stretches back to the previous season.
Their offensive output has been equally impressive, with 51 goals scored compared to just 15 allowed, while seven of those victories have come via shutouts, underscoring a stout back four that has become a hallmark of the team.
Leadership has been a cornerstone of the run. Senior captains Lila Cron and Tessa Freeland, together with standout players Chayse Donaldson and Ella Groeneveld, have guided younger teammates through a philosophy encapsulated by the motto “all out, all game, all season.”
Postseason Pursuit
The team now turns its attention to the postseason, beginning with a district semifinal against Grosse Pointe North scheduled for May 26 at 5 p.m. The matchup represents another chance to add to a tournament résumé that includes a 15‑7 record in MHSAA play since 2018 and five district championships.
Looking ahead, the Saints will transition to the MAC Red division next year, a move that promises new tests but also the opportunity to build on the momentum generated by their recent triumphs.
