Pella Girls Soccer Secures 5‑1 Win Over Des Moines Roosevelt

The #11 2A squad finishes regular season at 8‑5‑3 and prepares for regional play on June 2

The Pella girls soccer team, ranked eleventh in Iowa’s 2A classification, traveled to Des Moines to face the fourteenth‑ranked Roosevelt High School in a non‑conference showdown.

From the opening whistle the Dutch pressed forward, and in the 14th minute a precise cross from senior forward Maelee Solomon found classmate McKyndree Treft, who slotted the ball past the Roosevelt keeper to open the scoring.

First Half Tension

Both squads generated chances in a lively opening half, but it was Pella who entered the break with a 1‑0 advantage, the result of Solomon’s assist and Treft’s finish.

Second Half Explosion

The second half saw a burst of offensive fireworks. In the 47th minute Treft again linked up with Solomon, this time converting the pass into the game’s second goal. Just minutes later, Avary Hunsinger added a late strike in the 72nd minute to extend the lead.

Roosevelt managed to pull one back with a converted penalty, narrowing the margin to 2‑1, but the Dutch answered swiftly as Treft completed a brace with goals in the 68th and 74th minutes, sealing a 5‑1 victory.

With the win, Pella closes the regular season at 8‑5‑3 and now awaits the outcome of the Des Moines Hoover versus Bondurant match, which will determine their regional opponent on Tuesday, June 2nd.
