Sam Orme, a 6‑foot‑9 forward from Carmel, Indiana, has officially transferred to the University of Nebraska’s men’s basketball team, bringing a blend of size, shooting range and defensive versatility to the program.
A Versatile Weapon for the Huskers
During his lone season at Belmont, Orme appeared in 29 games and helped the Bruins capture the Missouri Valley Conference title. He posted averages of 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 55.9 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three‑point range, earning second‑team All‑MVC honors.
Coach Fred Hoiberg praised the newcomer’s basketball IQ and defensive instincts, noting that Orme’s length allows him to guard multiple positions and his ability to score both inside the paint and from the perimeter adds a new dimension to Nebraska’s lineup.
Hoiberg highlighted the player’s winning pedigree, pointing out that Orme arrives from a program that consistently competes at a high level. The coach believes the forward can contribute immediately, especially on nights when the team needs a reliable scorer who can stretch the floor and protect the rim.
