Tony Rojas, a linebacker for the Penn State Nittany Lions, has been added to the 2025 Lott IMPACT Trophy watchlist, an annual recognition that highlights the nation’s most impactful defensive player. The award, named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, evaluates not only on‑field production but also integrity, maturity, academic achievement, community involvement and tenacity.
A Season of Resilience
Rojas’s inclusion follows a 2024 campaign in which he overcame a long‑term injury sustained during the White Out game against Oregon. Despite missing the early portion of the season, he returned to finish with 58 total tackles, six tackles for loss and three interceptions, earning All‑Big Ten honors for his performance.
A native of Fairfax, Virginia, Rojas now stands as the sole representative from Penn State on the watchlist. If he were to capture the trophy, he would become only the second Nittany Lion to do so, following defensive end Carl Nassib, who won the award in 2015.
