Maxwell and Moten to Receive Hall of Fame Honors in 2026

The M&M boys, who led Florida to its first NCAA Tournament runs, will be celebrated on October 9

A Legendary Induction

Vernon Maxwell and Andrew Moten, the former Florida Gators stars who once dominated college basketball as the M&M boys, will be inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2026.

Their partnership, forged under coach Norm Sloan in the late 1980s, propelled the Gators to their first two NCAA Tournament appearances in 1987 and 1988, a milestone that reshaped the program’s national profile.

Maxwell stands as the Gators’ all‑time leading scorer with 2,450 points, while Moten holds the fourth spot on the career list with 1,930 points, together accounting for 4,380 points — the highest total ever recorded by a tandem in SEC history.

The announcement came during a Zoom call with current Florida basketball coach Todd Golden, who praised the duo’s contributions and outlined the upcoming ceremony.

Their honor will be displayed on October 9, just before the Gators’ homecoming football game against South Carolina, giving the university community a chance to celebrate the legacy of the M&M boys.
