A Sudden Exit at Wilson Central
Ben Kuhn has resigned as the head football coach of Wilson Central, ending a three‑year stint that began in December 2022. His departure was confirmed in a Facebook post on May 22, just three months before the 2026 TSSAA season is slated to begin.
In the message, Kuhn expressed deep gratitude to the players who embraced his vision, the school administration for its steadfast support, the teaching staff, and the assistant coaches who worked alongside him each week. He highlighted the camaraderie and effort that defined the Wildcats’ recent campaigns.
Kuhn’s tenure followed the departure of Brad Dedman, who had led the program in its last playoff appearance during the 2022 season. Taking the reins at the end of Dedman’s era, Kuhn inherited a team that had struggled to find consistency but gradually began to show improvement.
Over his three years, the Wildcats compiled a 13‑18 record, highlighted by a 5‑5 mark in the 2025 season. While the win‑loss column did not fully capture the incremental progress, Kuhn noted that the program’s foundation was being rebuilt from the ground up.
The school now faces the task of identifying a successor in a compressed timeline, a challenge that will test the administration’s ability to attract talent and maintain momentum. Community members and alumni are watching closely, hopeful that the next leader can translate the recent strides into sustained competitiveness.
