James Madison University announced the commitment of Marley Curtis, a 6‑foot‑8 forward from St. Louis Park, Minnesota, to join the program for the 2026‑27 season.
Curtis arrives after a freshman year at the University of North Dakota, where he appeared in 30 games, starting eight, and posted averages of 6.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest.
During that season he logged a season‑high 19 points against Mayville State, contributed 14 points and four rebounds in 33 minutes at Creighton, and pulled down a career‑high 10 rebounds versus Coastal Carolina.
Coach Preston Spradlin praised the newcomer, describing him as “a big physical wing that adds length and versatility to the roster,” and noted that his experience in the Summit League should accelerate his impact.

The addition gives the Dukes a tangible boost in size and depth, providing three years of eligibility to develop within the program. Spradlin emphasized that Curtis’s physicality and ability to stretch the floor align with the team’s tactical goals.
Curtis’s high school pedigree also includes a senior season in which he averaged 23 points per game, underscoring his scoring potential at the collegiate level.
The move also ties the program to its broader geographic footprint, linking the Harrisonburg campus with the Twin Cities region and reinforcing recruiting ties across the Midwest.
