Auburn University has assembled its first full coaching staff under head coach Alex Golesh, a move that comes with a hefty financial commitment.
The package, slated to cost nearly $9.1 million in 2026, reflects a strategic investment in experienced coordinators.
Compensation Overview
Defensive coordinator DJ Durkin will top the list with a $2.7 million salary, a figure that marks a substantial increase from his previous $2.5 million deal heading into 2025.
Offensive coordinator Joel Gordon is slated to earn $1 million, while special teams coordinator Jacob Bronowski will receive $600,000.
Among the assistants, Vontrell King‑Williams, the defensive line coach, saw his compensation jump to $650,000 after a six‑figure raise, up from $500,000 the prior season.
Other coordinators also receive sizable contracts: Kodi Burns and Tyler Hudanick, both associate heads and coordinators, will each make $700,000; DeMarcus Van Dyke, cornerback coach, $500,000; Tim Banks, co‑defensive coordinator, $500,000; Larry Porter, running back coach, $475,000; Larry Scott, tight end coach, $450,000; Coleman Hutzler, edge coach, $400,000; and Brad Wilson, outside linebacker coach, $400,000.
Strategic Implications
The salary structure was first reported by the Montgomery Advertiser, underscoring the growing financial stakes of college football staffing.
Analysts suggest that Auburn’s aggressive spending signals a push to compete at the highest level, positioning the program for a strong future under Golesh’s leadership.
