Iowa Creative Media Department Secures Two Telly Awards

Silver for Ferentz documentary, bronze for 2025 recap

The University of Iowa's football creative media department has been honored with two awards at the 47th Annual Telly Awards, recognizing its work in video and television production.

One of the honors, a silver award, was presented for the documentary “Kirk Ferentz: The Winningest Coach in Big Ten Football History,” which chronicles the longtime coach’s impact on the conference.

The department also earned a bronze award for its 2025 Iowa Football Cinematic Recaps, a visually driven recap that captures the season’s pivotal moments.

The Telly Awards’ Expansive Reach

The Telly Awards receive more than 13,000 submissions annually from all 50 states and five continents, and its Judging Council includes over 250 industry experts who evaluate each entry.

Amanda Needham, managing director of The Telly Awards, noted that video has never been more contested, creative, or consequential, highlighting the competitive landscape of modern media.

The department’s dual recognition underscores its growing influence and its ability to blend narrative depth with sports coverage, setting a benchmark for collegiate athletic media.
