The annual Junior Irish Soccer Memorial Day tournament opens this Friday, drawing 230 teams from five states into a weekend of competition for players ranging from six to eighteen years old.
A Tribute Before the Games Begin
Organizers have scheduled a veterans' honor ceremony and a flag ceremony for Saturday morning, with the flag raising set for 7:30 a.m., just before the eight‑o’clock start of the day's matches.
All matches will be played at the Junior Irish Soccer Complex in South Bend and at Newton Park, two venues that will host back‑to‑back games throughout the weekend.
Beyond the on‑field action, the event serves as a gathering point for families, coaches and local supporters who share a love of the sport and a respect for those who have served.
With participants spanning the entire youth spectrum, the tournament promises fast‑paced play, colorful sidelines and a celebration of community spirit that extends far beyond the final whistle.
