A New Era for the Hoosiers' Backcourt
Indiana University announced that guard Justin Monden, who transferred from Maryland‑Eastern Shore, will join the Hoosiers for the 2026‑27 campaign, adding depth to a roster that has seen a wave of newcomers.
Monden appeared in 30 games for the Hawks last season, starting just once, and posted averages of 6.0 points and 1.6 assists per game, numbers that reflect his role as a complementary backcourt piece.
A native of North Carolina, Monden’s skill set brings a blend of shooting and playmaking that coaches hope will mesh quickly with the team’s tempo.
The commitment was first reported by IndyStar, which confirmed Monden’s decision on Tuesday, and it marks the latest addition to a backcourt that also features transfers Markus Burton from Notre Dame, Bryce Lindsay from Villanova, and Jaeden Mustaf from Georgia Tech.
Together, the quartet forms a remade backcourt that could reshape Indiana’s offensive dynamics, giving the program a fresh infusion of talent as it aims to climb the Big Ten standings.
