Rain Forces Postponement of Charlotte Truck Race
Persistent rain over the past two days has drenched the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, prompting officials to postpone the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event that was originally scheduled for Friday. The series announced that the race will now take place Saturday morning at 8 a.m., with live coverage on FS1, NRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Friday’s practice and qualifying sessions were cancelled outright because of the inclement weather, leaving teams with limited time to prepare. Despite the short turnaround, Corey Day will start from the pole position in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, a testament to his recent form and the team’s ability to adapt quickly.
Corey Day Takes the Pole
Day’s front‑row start places the No. 7 Chevrolet at the head of the grid for the rescheduled contest, giving the driver a prime opportunity to capitalize on the fresh track conditions. The pole position also provides Spire Motorsports with a high‑visibility platform as the team looks to rebound from a challenging season.
Honoring Kyle Busch
The rescheduled race will serve as a tribute to Kyle Busch, who passed away earlier this week after a sudden, severe illness. Busch’s victory at Dover on May 15 marked his series‑record 69th Truck win, and the Memorial Day weekend will feature multiple acknowledgments of his contributions to the sport.
Series officials say the new timing allows fans to combine the on‑track action with traditional holiday observances, while also giving crews a chance to dry the track and ensure a safe competition environment. The move underscores the series’ flexibility in the face of unpredictable weather patterns.
