French Guard Marine Dursus Commits to UConn Women’s Basketball

The 20‑year‑old brings international experience and championship pedigree to the Huskies ahead of the 2026‑27 season.

A French Guard Joins the Huskies

Marine Dursus, a 20‑year‑old guard from Strasbourg, announced her commitment to the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball program, signaling a new chapter for the Huskies ahead of the 2026‑27 season.

Dursus arrives after three seasons in the French League with Club Angers, where she posted a 9.9‑point average, shot 51.3 % from the field and contributed 1.4 assists per game during the 2025‑26 campaign.

A graduate of the French National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance (INSEP), she brings a decorated résumé that includes gold at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket, silver at the 2023 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship and bronze medals at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup and U18 European Championship.

Her arrival will mark the second French player in UConn history, following Lou Lopez Sénéchal, who hails from Grenoble, and she will join a backcourt that recently lost Azzi Fudd to the WNBA.

Dursus will be joined by four other international teammates — Jovana Popović of Serbia, Jana El Alfy of Egypt, Gandy Malou‑Mamel of Ireland and Blanca Quiñonez of Ecuador — creating a diverse roster that reflects the program’s global reach.

Beyond club play, she has represented France on youth national teams, sharing the court with future Connecticut Sun guard Leila Lacan and Nell Angloma at the 2022 Under‑18 European Championship and on the U17 World Cup stage in 2022.

The Huskies’ coaching staff expects her scoring ability and playmaking to reinforce the team’s depth, while her participation in the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders Global Women’s Camp underscores her potential to impact the game beyond college.
