Jacobe Johnson entered his sophomore year with high expectations after a promising freshman campaign at the University of Oklahoma.
During the 2025 season he appeared in 11 games at cornerback, missing the first two matchups due to a lingering injury but still managed to record nine tackles and two interceptions, the latter tying his career best.
His 2024 season was even more extensive, as he played every one of the 13 games, starting twice, and finished with 18 tackles; his performance culminated with a career‑high four‑tackle effort in the Armed Forces Bowl against Navy.
In 2023, Johnson was primarily a special‑teams contributor and a reserve defensive back, appearing in all 13 games and posting eight tackles, half a tackle for loss, and one interception.
High School Roots and Recruitment
Before arriving in Norman, Johnson was a consensus four‑star recruit, ranked 46th nationally by ESPN and selected to the 2022 Under Armour All‑American team; he also excelled in basketball and track and field.
He enrolled at Oklahoma in June 2023, choosing the university over several other top programs while pursuing a degree in community health.
Looking ahead, the sophomore hopes to build on his recent bowl performance and contribute to the Sooners’ defense as he continues to develop both athletically and academically.
