Coca‑Cola 600 Entry Shifts Honor Kyle Busch Ahead of May 24 Race

Richard Childress Racing drops its No. 33 entry, while Jesse Love prepares to drive the tribute car.

The upcoming Coca‑Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway was originally slated to feature a full field of forty entries, with four spots reserved for non‑chartered teams.

Richard Childress Racing announced that it would not field its No. 33 entry for the event, choosing instead to run only its two full‑time cars. The team clarified that the decision was made earlier in the week and had no connection to the recent passing of Kyle Busch.

A Tribute in Numbers

In a tribute to the late driver, the No. 8 car will be renumbered to No. 33 for this race and will remain reserved for Busch’s 11‑year‑old son, Brexton Busch.

The uncertainty surrounding RCR’s third car persists, as the organization has not disclosed any plans beyond this weekend.

Jesse Love, the reigning O'Reilly Series champion, was slated to take the wheel of the No. 33 for the race. Love’s season began with a debut at the Circuit of the Americas, followed by a second start at Talladega Superspeedway, where he finished 27th in both outings.

Other drivers on the entry list include Timmy Hill, Corey Heim, Katherine Legge, Austin Hill and Austin Dillon, each of whom have been mentioned in connection with the event.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Coverage will be streamed live on Amazon Prime Video, with broadcast kicking off at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
