Madison McKeever Takes the Helm of Bemidji State Women’s Basketball

A seasoned coach with a championship pedigree steps into the role of 11th head coach

Madison McKeever has been appointed the 11th head coach of Bemidji State University’s women’s basketball program, taking the reins of a team poised for a fresh start after a transitional period.

She arrives after a decade of progressive coaching experience, having served as an assistant at the University of St. Thomas and Concordia University‑St. Paul, where she contributed to program building and player development.

During her tenure at St. Thomas, the Tommies posted a 61‑62 overall record and a 31‑25 mark in the Summit League, while she helped guide the squad to six Summit League tournament appearances, including second‑round runs in her first and fourth seasons.

Her coaching impact was recognized when eight of her players earned All‑Summit League honors, and at Concordia‑St. Paul five athletes received All‑Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference accolades.

Before moving into coaching, McKeever enjoyed a standout playing career at the University of South Dakota, where she helped the Coyotes compile a 110‑24 record over four seasons, broke into the 1,000‑point club, and was honored as the Summit League Sixth Woman of the Year as a freshman.

A native of the Midwest, McKeever graduated with a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a bachelor’s degree in general studies and elementary education, and she remains active in her community, enjoying time with family, friends, travel, the outdoors, and her dog Koda.

Looking Forward

The university’s athletic director expressed confidence that McKeever’s blend of playing pedigree, coaching acumen, and community orientation will revitalize the program and attract new talent.

Fans can expect a competitive schedule, emphasis on academic excellence, and a culture that balances on‑court intensity with personal growth.
