Allgaier Secures the Pole Position
Justin Allgaier will start at the front of the grid for the Charbroil 300 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23. A sudden rainstorm washed out traditional qualifying, prompting officials to determine the lineup through NASCAR's metric system.
The event is scheduled for 200 laps, covering 300 miles, and is divided into three stages — 45 laps, 45 laps and 110 laps. Organizers are hopeful for a dry practice session before the green flag drops, which would allow teams to fine‑tune setups on the 1.5‑mile oval in Concord, North Carolina.

Series veteran Corey Day captured victory in the final laps last weekend at Dover and will look to challenge Allgaier on Sunday. A long list of drivers — including Sam Mayer, Brandon Jones, Connor Zilisch, Austin Hill, William Sawalich, Sammy Smith, Ryan Sieg, Rajah Caruth, Brennan Poole, Sheldon Creed, Anthony Alfredo, Ross Chastain and many others — are expected to battle for position.
The field will feature entries from prominent racing organizations such as JR Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports and Haas Factory Team, among many others. While the teams bring diverse technical resources, the focus remains on the on‑track competition that promises overtaking and strategic maneuvering throughout the 200‑lap distance.
