The NASCAR Cup Series is set to kick off its Charlotte weekend with a pair of sessions that will determine the grid for the iconic Coca‑Cola 600. On May 23, teams will take to the 1.5‑mile oval for practice at 1:30 p.m. Eastern, followed by qualifying at 2:40 p.m. Eastern, a schedule that pits the East and West coasts against each other in a tightly choreographed timeline.
The weekend takes on a somber tone after the sudden death of Kyle Busch on May 21. In tribute, Richard Childress Racing has announced the suspension of the No. 8 entry, the car that Busch has piloted for years, and has called up Austin Hill to fill the seat for the upcoming race.
A Tribute in Motion
NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell confirmed that a series of tributes will be woven into the broadcast, ensuring that Busch’s legacy is felt throughout the event and beyond.
Fans will be able to watch the action live on Amazon Prime Video, while radio listeners can tune in via SiriusXM and the Performance Racing Network. Both platforms will also stream the race on NASCAR.com, giving viewers multiple ways to engage with the ceremony.
The competition itself will unfold at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, a venue that has long been a cornerstone of the sport’s history.
