Mizzou Announces New Assistant Coaches and Contract Details for 2026‑27 Season

Four hires bring varied compensation packages, while returning staff accept pay reductions

The University of Missouri has made public the contractual terms for four newly hired assistant basketball coaches who will join the program for the 2026‑27 season. Their arrivals mark a strategic infusion of experience across different facets of the game, from player development to offensive scheme design.

Jason Crowe Sr. signed a two‑year agreement that guarantees a base salary of $300,000, supplemented by $200,000 in non‑salary compensation. Both Crowe and the other new assistants received a $5,000 moving allowance and a $15,000 signing incentive, with the contracts also containing automatic renewal and early termination clauses.

Zach Reynolds will earn a base salary of $200,000 over two years, while Jimmie Foster and Tavaras Hardy each inked one‑year deals at $250,000. Hardy’s appointment also carries the added responsibility of offensive coordinator, positioning him to shape the team’s attacking philosophy from the outset.

All new coaches share the same $5,000 moving allowance and $15,000 signing incentive, and each contract includes provisions that automatically extend the agreement for an additional year unless either party elects to terminate early, subject to predefined conditions.

The move is not without financial adjustments on the existing staff side. Three returning assistants — Kyle Smithpeters, Matt Cline and Ryan Sharbaugh — have accepted pay cuts as part of a broader restructuring aimed at balancing the budget while maintaining competitive coaching talent.

In addition, David "Dickey" Nutt has been reassigned to the role of Assistant to the Head Coach, a position that will allow him to provide strategic input while transitioning out of a full‑time on‑court role.

Head coach Dennis Gates emphasized that the new staff brings a blend of proven track records and diverse experiences, stating that the mix is intended to elevate the program’s competitiveness and foster player development across the roster.
