Indiana University announced the addition of guard Justin Monden as its seventh transfer portal acquisition, a move that deepens the Hoosiers' backcourt ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Monden's College Trail
The guard spent his freshman year at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he posted six points and 1.6 assists per game. He then moved to Georgia Southwestern State University, a Division II program where he flourished, averaging 12.2 points and 2.1 assists in his second season before transferring again.
Monden's high school roots trace back to Heritage High School in North Carolina, after which he honed his game at Word of God Christian Academy. It was there that current Indiana assistant coach Thomas Carr served on the staff, providing a familiar connection as the Hoosiers integrate the new recruit.
Eligibility and Roster Impact
The transfer is expected to carry one year of eligibility, giving the program a seasoned option at the guard position. His arrival brings the total number of scholarship players to twelve, joining existing backcourt pieces such as Markus Burton, Darren Harris, Jaeden Mustaf and Bryce Lindsay.
Coach Thomas Carr, who previously mentored Monden at Word of God Christian Academy, expressed confidence that the guard's skill set will complement the team's dynamics. The move is seen as a strategic step to reinforce depth and competitiveness within the roster.
