Purdue University has added a new piece to its 2027 recruiting class, securing the verbal commitment of Ethan Reyna, a highly touted linebacker from Andrean High School in Indiana. The announcement comes as the Boilermakers continue to build momentum in a class that already features several promising prospects.
Ranked No. 988 nationally by Rivals and positioned among the top 100 linebackers in the country, Reyna combines size, speed and instincts that fit the defensive schemes being developed in West Lafayette. His athletic profile has been tracked by multiple recruiting services, making his pledge a notable boost for the program.
During the most recent season he recorded 105 tackles, including 49 solo stops, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and one interception, helping the 59ers win the Class 2A state championship after reaching the semistate round the previous year. Those numbers illustrate both production and leadership on the field.
Reyna has become a familiar face on campus, visiting West Lafayette repeatedly and planning an official visit next month. The frequency of his trips reflects a genuine connection to the university and a desire to experience the environment firsthand before making a final decision.
His recruitment also included scholarship offers from Western Michigan, the University of Minnesota, Rutgers University and several other Mid‑American Conference programs. While those options provided additional pathways, Purdue emerged as the first Indiana‑based commitment in the 2027 class, highlighting the program’s growing footprint within the state.
Local Roots, National Ambitions
The commitment marks a strategic milestone for Purdue, as the coaching staff aims to strengthen the defensive unit with a player who not only excels academically but also embodies the work ethic associated with Indiana football. Analysts expect Reyna to contribute early, potentially reshaping the depth chart as the Boilermakers look to climb the Big Ten standings.
