Johns Hopkins University announced this week that Justin Flack has been appointed as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program, stepping into the vacancy created by Greg Ridout, who served as the top assistant since 2020. The move was confirmed by head coach Dan Weiler, who highlighted Flack's extensive background in player development and tactical preparation as a key factor in the decision.
A Coach With Proven Track Record
Flack arrives after a three‑year stint at Augsburg College, where he helped guide the team to a 29‑17‑10 record and twice reach the MIAC Semifinals. His tenure at Augsburg was marked by a strong emphasis on recruiting, opponent scouting, and game planning, contributions that left a measurable imprint on the program's competitiveness.
Beyond his collegiate experience, Flack has worked with several youth and academy clubs, including Tonka United and the Minnesota United Academy, where he honed his ability to mentor emerging talent. He holds USSF and UEFA "B" Coaching Licenses and a Premier Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches Association, credentials that underscore his commitment to professional development.
Flack's playing days at Concordia Moorhead provided the foundation for his coaching philosophy. He graduated with degrees in creative writing and Psychology, earned Academic All‑MIAC honors, and was recognized as an Honorable Mention All‑MIAC selection. Notably, his first season under coach Dan Weiler at Concordia was under the guidance of the same mentor now overseeing his next career chapter.
Dan Weiler expressed enthusiasm about the addition, stating that Flack's blend of analytical insight and hands‑on player work aligns perfectly with the program's ambitions. The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team has enjoyed a remarkable streak, capturing consecutive Centennial Conference titles and securing NCAA Tournament berths for 20 straight years, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2025.
Looking ahead, the program is set to open the 2026 season on September 1, and the new coaching staff is already shaping plans for another deep tournament run. Flack's integration into the staff is expected to bolster the team's strategic depth as they chase another championship.
