A Summer Camp of Skill and Community
Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent recently returned to his hometown roots by organizing a football camp at St. Bede Academy in Peru, Illinois. The event gathered roughly 100 middle‑school and high‑school players eager to sharpen their offensive techniques and learn from a professional quarterback.
Under the guidance of Bagent, his father Travis — a 17‑time world arm‑wrestling champion — and a staff of local coaches, participants ran agility drills, sprint exercises, and footwork routines designed to improve quarterback mechanics and receiver route precision. The camp also featured targeted training for agility, acceleration, and sprint speed, as well as technique work on footwork and mechanics.
Beyond the on‑field work, the camp offered a rare chance for the youngsters to meet Bagent, snap photos, and throw passes under his watchful eye, creating a personal connection that many said would stay with them long after the final whistle.
The initiative is part of Bagent’s ongoing effort to give back to the Chicagoland community, a commitment underscored by his foundation’s work combating youth homelessness and by a recent donation of equipment to St. Bede’s football program.
Collin Dever, an incoming freshman at Princeton High School, highlighted the mentorship he received, noting that Bagent’s advice on preparation and perseverance resonated deeply with him.
While Travis hinted that the camp could return to St. Bede next summer, Bagent emphasized that the lasting impact lies in the confidence he hopes to instill in each participant, encouraging them to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
