Elite 2027 Recruits Commit to Texas Tech

Jalen Brewster tops the rankings as the nation's No.1 prospect

The 2027 college football recruiting cycle has already begun to shape the future of the sport, with a handful of elite prospects announcing their intentions before their senior seasons even conclude.

Jalen Brewster: The No.1 overall prospect

Jalen Brewster, a five‑star defensive lineman hailing from Cedar Hill, Texas, has been crowned the top prospect in the nation by Rivals, ESPN300 and the 247Sports Composite. He formalized his choice on October 4, 2025, committing to Texas Tech over a crowded field of suitors.

At Cedar Hill High School, Brewster distinguished himself on both sides of the ball, lining up as a defensive end while also serving as a short‑yardage running back. His versatility earned him the Utility Player of the Year award in Texas District 11‑6A, and he showcased his talents on national stages such as the Under Armour All‑America Game and the Polynesian Bowl in January.

Analyst Gabe Brooks of 247Sports highlighted Brewster’s knack for disrupting offenses, noting that his blend of size, speed and football IQ makes him a rare playmaker in the trenches.

More big‑name commitments to the Big 12

Raiden Cook, a defensive‑line commit from Mont Belvieu, Texas, sits at No. 7 on Rivals’ list. In his junior year he recorded 39 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, numbers that have drawn praise for his disruptive skill set.

Quarterback Andre Adams, meanwhile, chose Texas Tech after a spectacular junior season at Antioch High School in Tennessee. He threw for 3,418 yards and 35 touchdowns while also rushing for 855 yards and 13 scores, setting a state record with 714 scrimmage yards in a single game.

With eight of the top ten players on Rivals’ rankings pledged to Texas Tech, the program appears poised to translate its recruiting momentum into on‑field success, a narrative that will unfold over the coming seasons.
