Vermont’s Scholar‑Athlete Football Stars Earn Academic All‑America Honors
High School Football America and scoutSMART have jointly revealed the sixth annual Academic All‑America team for Vermont, spotlighting student‑athletes who excel both on the gridiron and in the classroom.
Honorees must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher, or achieve a score of 92 on a 0‑to‑100 scale, while also being active contributors to their varsity squads.
scoutSMART fuels the selection with its proprietary FIT Score, a composite metric that blends statistical performance, on‑field skills and academic metrics to give coaches a holistic view of each prospect.
The FIT Score is shared with college football programs nationwide, helping coaches identify recruits who meet rigorous academic and athletic standards.
Among the recognized athletes, Colby Bristol, a linebacker from Brattleboro and a member of the class of 2026, joins Wyatt Nelson, an offensive lineman from Rice Memorial slated for the class of 2027, as exemplars of this dual excellence.
Their inclusion underscores the growing emphasis on balanced development in high school sports, where scholarly achievement is celebrated alongside athletic contribution.
