Wake Forest Women’s Soccer Bolsters Roster with Trio of Talented Recruits

Wake Forest University’s women’s soccer program has announced the signing of three new athletes who will join the Demon Deacons for the upcoming season, adding depth and versatility to the roster.

Taylor Maxwell, a rising sophomore defender, arrives from the Miami Hurricanes where she honed her defensive skills and earned recognition as a 2021 Rookie of the Year and First Team All‑SOL selection in 2024.

Sofia Atehortua, a rising sophomore midfielder, comes from UCLA, where she contributed to a squad that captured the Southeast Conference title and was ranked No. 18 among the TopDrawerSoccer Class of 2025 prospects.

Kaitlyn Sasadeusz, a senior forward, transfers from the University of San Francisco, bringing more than 2,000 minutes of collegiate experience and a track record of leading her team in scoring and assists during her sophomore and junior years.

Coach’s Vision for the New Additions

Head Coach Tony da Luz praised Maxwell for her athleticism and defensive acumen, noting that her background in high‑intensity club play will translate well to the collegiate game.
