Travis Coleman, a veteran scout with more than ten years of experience in Major League Baseball, has taken on the dual role of Varsity Head Coach and Director of Baseball Operations at St. Augustine High School, the school he graduated from in 2003.
A Proven Track Record
During his tenure with the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves, both clubs captured World Series titles while he contributed to their scouting departments, underscoring his ability to identify and develop talent at the highest level.
At the core of his new responsibilities is the expansion of The Prospect Lab, a Birmingham‑based development academy he founded, which has already guided more than five hundred athletes toward collegiate scholarships and produced fifty‑one players selected in the MLB Draft.
Coleman’s staff will include Purple Knights alumni such as Ronald Marigny and Will Spears, while longtime assistant Claude Hayes remains on the bench and former Bevill State Community College hitting coach Josh Moore joins as a new assistant.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Auburn University and is a 2005 initiate of the Theta Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., bringing both academic and fraternal leadership to the role.
School administrators say the appointment signals a commitment to rebuilding a program with a rich history of producing talent and to leveraging Coleman’s extensive network to attract top prospects for the future.
