Colorado Buffaloes have secured a verbal commitment from four-star offensive tackle Li'Marcus Jones, a prospect from Brentwood, Tennessee, for the 2027 recruiting cycle. The pledge was announced over the weekend and marks a significant addition to the program's offensive line.
A Strategic Addition for the Buffaloes
Jones, listed as the No. 33 overall recruit and the 33rd-best offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite, chose the Buffaloes over Mississippi State and Purdue, underscoring the program’s growing appeal. His decision came after Colorado offered a scholarship in July 2025 and hosted him for an official visit on May 15.
The commitment marks the second pledge the Buffaloes received over the weekend, following JUCO defensive lineman Malachi Brown, and brings the class to seven members, currently positioned 41st nationally and sixth in the Big 12.
Rivalry and Choice
Colorado’s coaching staff, led by head coach Deion Sanders, emphasized aggressive recruiting and player development. After weighing the three programs, Jones concluded that the Buffaloes offered the best fit for his academic and athletic goals.
Joining Jones are fellow four-star prospects quarterback Andre Adams and safety Gabe Jenkins, forming a core of elite talent that could accelerate the Buffaloes’ rebuild. The class also includes Kenny Fairley, another standout recruit who has committed to the program.
Sanders, who took over the program in 2022, has made it clear that attracting top-tier athletes is a priority. The recent commitments reflect his ability to draw talent to Boulder and signal a potential turnaround for the team’s performance in the coming seasons.
Analysts expect the influx of talent to improve the offensive line and provide depth for the upcoming seasons, potentially lifting the team’s national standing. With a strong recruiting class taking shape, the Buffaloes aim to climb higher in the Big 12 rankings and contend for conference titles.
