A New Era in Boulder
Colorado entered the 2025 campaign with a 3‑9 overall record and a 1‑8 mark in Big 12 play, a season that left many questions about the program’s trajectory. The Buffaloes will look to rebound as they prepare for a slate that includes a marquee matchup against the Utah Utes on October 17, 2026.
The roster will be without several key contributors from last year. Offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, wide receiver Omarion Miller and safety Tawfiq Byard have all moved on, leaving gaps that the coaching staff must address.
Incoming talent brings a mix of experience and potential. Wide receiver Danny Scudero, linebacker Tyler Martinez and defensive back Boo Carter are among the newcomers expected to make immediate impacts.
Offensive coordinator Brennan Marion has introduced a Go‑Go offense that emphasizes speed and versatility. The system is designed to maximize the playmaking ability of the new quarterbacks and to keep defenses guessing.
Quarterback duties are currently shared between redshirt freshman Julian Lewis and Utah transfer Isaac Wilson. Both players are competing for the starting role, and the competition has sparked optimism among fans who are eager to see the new system in action.
The excitement is palpable among the fan base, who have rallied around the promise of a more dynamic offense. Yet the defense will need to adapt as well, with eleven new starters on that side of the ball.
Coordinator Chris Marve will oversee a defense that features a revamped interior line, a unit that has raised concerns due to limited depth. Meanwhile, the inside linebacker room, anchored by Tyler Martinez, Liona Lefau and Gideon Lampron, is being heralded as one of the strongest in the Big 12.
The coaching staff is also looking to add depth to the interior defensive line over the summer, hoping to shore up a weakness that could prove costly in conference play.
