Indiana Kings: A Faith‑Driven Homeschool Baseball Program Rising in the Midwest

Founded by former pastor Mark Judy, the team blends competition with spiritual purpose, producing championship moments and standout talents like Tavian Trotter.

A Team Built on Faith and Community

The Indianapolis Kings began in 2005 when Mark Judy, a former pastor at Hancock Reformed Baptist Church, started the program after his son Greg aged out of the Greenfield Youth Baseball Association.

What started as a small group has grown into a full‑scale operation that fields varsity, junior varsity and middle‑school teams, drawing players from across Indiana, including Will Siegfried of Evansville who travels six hours each way to practice.

Under head coach Jeff Jenkins, who took the reins in 2024, the Kings posted a 15‑6 record and captured the Midwest Homeschool World Series championship with a 10‑0 win over Summit (Mich.) at Grand Park.

Sophomore shortstop Tavian Trotter, adopted by Kevin and Misty Trotter, quickly became a standout, batting .423 and stealing 24 bases while earning the 90th spot in the Prep Baseball Report’s 2028 Indiana prospect rankings.

The team’s culture centers on a shared belief in God, a principle that Mark Judy and his son Greg say motivates players to compete for something bigger than winning.

Other key contributors such as Luke Hightower, Austin Kelly and Ryker Brenneman provide depth, while teammates Tucker Whybrew and Micah Stewart add further strength to the roster.

Despite scheduling challenges that stem from the stigma sometimes faced by homeschool teams, the Kings continue to seek opponents and showcase their talent, aiming to prove that a faith‑driven community can thrive on the diamond.
