Justin Albert, a former Troy Trojans wide receiver who caught 40 passes for 338 yards during the 2011 season, has been announced as the new assistant head coach and running backs coach at Moody High School in Alabama.
Albert’s football journey has taken him from the fields of Troy to the sidelines of Smiths Station High School, where he spent a single season as head coach and finished with a 3‑8 record.
His hiring comes on the heels of a landmark season for Moody, a program that under Kyle Tatum captured its first Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A state championship and finished the 2025 campaign with a 13‑2 record, earning a No. 14 ranking among the state’s top teams.
Tatum replaced Jake Ganus, the coach who steered Moody to that historic title, and the school’s athletic director praised the continuity of leadership that the new staff brings.
Albert’s blend of former player experience and recent coaching exposure is expected to add depth to the running backs’ development and to reinforce the program’s offensive identity as it looks to defend its championship.
A Legacy of Success
The Troy Trojans, Moody’s feeder program, have long been a source of talent for the school, and Albert’s roots in that community give him a unique perspective on the expectations that accompany a winning culture.
Fans and alumni alike are eager to see how his background will translate into on‑field results, especially as the team aims to maintain its upward trajectory in the coming seasons.
