Troy University’s men’s basketball program is set for a fresh infusion of talent as head coach Adam Howard finalizes a recruiting class that includes three promising newcomers. The additions come as the team seeks to rebound from a challenging previous season and to build depth behind a core of returning veterans.
Jacoi Hutchinson arrives in Troy after a standout junior season at Longwood University, where he posted 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field. A three‑star recruit and McDonald’s High School All‑American, Hutchinson also began his collegiate career at George Washington University, bringing a blend of scoring and playmaking to the Trojans.
French prospect Romain Valakou joins the squad as an incoming freshman who dominated the French U18 scene, averaging 20.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists for BCM Gravelines Dunkerque U21. He has also represented the French U18 National Team and logged 16.5 points per game for Cholet U21, positioning him as a high‑scoring prospect with international experience.
Willie Piggot Jr., a native of Arizona, comes to Troy from Arizona Compass Prep, where he was named District 3A Player of the Year in 2025 after surpassing 1,000 career points at Tampa Catholic High School. Though his senior stats recorded modest numbers, his work ethic and defensive instincts — averaging 3.3 points, two steals and 1.3 rebounds per game — have coaches confident in his upside.
The trio will join a mix of returning veterans and other newcomers, creating depth that Howard hopes will translate into a competitive edge in the upcoming conference schedule. With a blend of experience and fresh energy, the Trojans aim to climb the standings and contend for postseason play.
