Nine couples took advantage of a Durham Bulls game to celebrate their love in a ceremony that blended romance with the rhythm of baseball. The event, dubbed "9 Weddings in 9 Innings," was co-hosted by radio station MIX 101.5 and attracted more than 3,700 onlookers who watched the proceedings unfold between innings.
The ceremony was a mix of traditional weddings and vow renewals, creating a vibrant atmosphere that stood out from the typical ballpark experience. One pair even marked a milestone, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary amid the cheers of the crowd.
The festivities took place at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in North Carolina, marking the second annual iteration of the event. The inaugural ceremony had been held the previous August, establishing a growing tradition that turns a regular game into a community celebration.
While the romantic moments unfolded, the Durham Bulls faced a 10-2 defeat against the Nashville Sounds, but the score was secondary to the unique experience shared by participants and spectators alike.
Bride Tori Raeihle expressed excitement about the opportunity to tie the knot in such an unconventional setting, noting that the blend of sport and ceremony added a memorable twist to her special day.
