Longhorns Gear Up for Regional Play
The Texas Longhorns baseball program has been handed the No. 6 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, guaranteeing them home‑field advantage for the opening round.
They will open the regional at UFCU Disch‑Falk Field in Austin, welcoming UC Santa Barbara, Tarleton State and Holy Cross, with first‑round games slated to start at noon on Friday.
The regional follows a double‑elimination format, meaning each team must lose twice before being eliminated, adding intensity to every contest.
Should the Longhorns advance, they would host a best‑of‑three super regional against one of four potential opponents: No. 11 seed Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State or Yale.
Victory in the super regional would propel them to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, where the champions of eight super regionals converge.
This tournament marks the 65th time Texas has entered the NCAA postseason, underscoring a long tradition of competition that dates back decades.
Their most recent appearance in the College World Series came during the 2022 season, and the program is now chasing its first national championship since 2005, a goal that continues to drive the squad.
Veteran pitcher Temo Becerra is expected to anchor the rotation as the team prepares for the first round, bringing experience and a track record of clutch performances.
