Geof Muma has stepped into the role of head varsity football coach at Evart, taking over from Ben Bryant, who opted not to return for a third season.
A native of Kent City and a graduate of Central Michigan University, Muma brings more than fifteen years of coaching experience from North Carolina, where he led middle school and high school programs before relocating back to Michigan three years ago.
Since his return, he has been serving at Evart Middle School, where most of the current high school players have already learned under his tutelage. His familiarity with many of the athletes has eased the transition to the varsity level.
Muma’s primary objective is to grow participation in the sport and to develop players both on and off the field. He plans to convene with fellow coaches to map out the summer schedule and to leverage the larger incoming freshman class, which promises to add depth to the roster.
Expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming campaign, Muma highlighted the talent emerging from the rising freshman cohort and underscored his commitment to fostering a culture of improvement and community engagement.

The appointment marks a pivotal moment for Evart Public Schools, which will also be collaborating with partners such as KIPP Pride High and Central Michigan University to support the program’s growth.
