The Turkish men's national soccer team will begin its World Cup preparation at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa on June 8, marking the first time the facility has been selected as a training base for the global tournament.
Visit Mesa projects that the camp will generate roughly $3 million in economic activity for the area, attracting fans and visitors from across Arizona and beyond.
A warm welcome for the squad
Community leader Mustafa Uygur said he and fellow Turkish‑American residents are eager to greet the players, describing the event as a chance to showcase their culture and hospitality.
The public will be invited to a meet‑and‑greet on June 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with free admission and tickets distributed through the Arizona Athletic Grounds website.
FIFA has confirmed that the site meets all standards for a World Cup training camp, and local officials say the influx of fans will reinforce Mesa’s reputation as a sports‑tourism hub.
