Bennett Konkey, a senior wide receiver at Geneva High School in Illinois, has quickly risen to prominence as one of the most coveted prospects in the state’s 2027 recruiting class, drawing attention for both his on‑field performance and his athletic versatility.
He currently holds nine scholarship offers, among them from the University of Iowa and the national champion Indiana Hoosiers, and he has emphasized that the development of coaches is a decisive factor in his ultimate decision.
Coach Development and Campus Visit
Konkey will travel to Iowa on June 5 to meet the Hawkeyes staff, tour the facilities and gauge how the program aligns with his academic aspirations, a meeting that comes after a strong relationship with Iowa’s coach Budmayr.
On the track, he has recorded a 100‑meter dash of 10.25 seconds and a 200‑meter time of 21.15, speed metrics that complement his 41 receptions for 739 yards and nine touchdowns last season, achievements that have propelled him to No. 5 among Illinois receivers in the Prep Redzone rankings.
Beyond athletics, Konkey intends to pursue a Business degree in college, reflecting a long‑term vision that blends entrepreneurial ambition with his sporting career.
