Sectional Play Begins Across Indiana
The Indiana High School Athletic Association's state baseball tournament has officially opened, with sectional games taking place across the state. Teams from the Lafayette region are dispersed among eight different sectionals, each hosting a slate of contests that determine which squads advance to the next round.
Defending Champions Eye Additional Titles
Among the storylines, Central Catholic is chasing a fifth consecutive sectional championship, while Harrison, Clinton Prairie and Tri‑County are each looking to protect the titles they captured in the previous season.
Class-by-Class Matchups
In the Class 4A bracket, Loeb Stadium will host a showdown between Harrison and Lafayette Jeff, as well as a contest pitting Kokomo against McCutcheon. Class 3A action at Logansport features Twin Lakes up against Western and Maconaquah facing West Lafayette, while Crawfordsville will see Brebeuf take on Tri‑West and Frankfort meet the host school. Class 2A sectionals at North Montgomery include a matchup of Rensselaer versus Western Boone and another between Delphi and Benton Central, and at Greencastle South Putnam will play Parke Heritage while Southmont meets North Putnam. Class A competition at Remington Park matches West Central with Pioneer and Caston against South Newton, and at Riverton Parke North Vermillion squares off with Attica while Fountain Central faces Faith Christian. Finally, at Carroll, Clinton Central will play Carroll and Frontier will meet Clinton Prairie.
