The All‑Southwest Conference revealed its baseball and softball awardees this week, spotlighting a handful of standout athletes who have dominated the spring season.
Baseball Player of the Year: Cade Pettersen
In baseball, North Medford’s junior Cade Pettersen earned the league’s Player of the Year after a season that combined a .450 batting average with 12 stolen bases and a clutch performance in the conference tournament.
Pitcher of the Year and Coaching Excellence
Pitching honors went to Willamette’s right‑hander Mason Christian, whose 1.85 ERA and 10 strikeouts per game secured him the Pitcher of the Year award, while veteran coach Robert Cantwell was recognized as Baseball Coach of the Year for guiding his squad to a 22‑win campaign.
Softball Standouts
Softball’s top player, Mady Montejano of Grants Pass, was celebrated for her .520 average and 25 RBIs, while the conference’s co‑Pitchers of the Year, Harlee Agee from Roseburg and Julia Edwards of North Medford, shared the spotlight after posting sub‑2.00 ERAs and leading their teams deep into the playoffs.
Coaches Recognized
Coaching excellence was also acknowledged, with Chris Campbell of North Medford taking Softball Coach of the Year honors after orchestrating a turnaround that saw his team clinch the district title, and Robert Cantwell’s baseball staff earning a repeat nod for sustained excellence.
The recognitions underscore the competitive depth of the Southwest Conference, where individual brilliance and strategic leadership continue to shape the region’s reputation as a hotbed for high‑school athletics.
