USC Baseball Secures No. 2 Seed in College Station Regional

Despite a 1-9 record against top Big Ten opponents, the Trojans will travel to Texas for the NCAA tournament, aiming to break a two‑decade regional drought.

The NCAA revealed the 2026 baseball tournament field on Monday, confirming that the University of Southern California will enter as the No. 2 seed in the College Station Regional.

Seed and Hosting Prospects

Although the Trojans were in contention for a home regional at Dedeaux Field, a 1‑9 record against the nation’s top Big Ten programs ultimately denied them that privilege. Analysts had positioned USC among the five No. 2 seeds, roughly the 21st overall slot, only five spots away from a home‑field advantage.

The regional will also feature Texas A&M, the No. 12 overall seed, alongside other competitive teams, promising a tightly contested bracket in College Station, Texas.

For USC, the tournament represents an opportunity to end a drought that has persisted for more than two decades since their last regional championship.

Coaching Perspective

Coach Andy Stankiewicz, who has guided the program through a rebuilding phase, said the team is eager to translate its regular‑season progress into postseason success. “We’ve learned a lot from our conference battles,” he noted. “Now we get to showcase what we’ve built on a national stage.”

Fans will travel to Texas for the games, hopeful that the Trojans can rewrite their recent history and advance further than ever before.
