A crossover of sport and hospitality
Hockey phenom Macklin Celebrini, captain of Canada’s 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship squad, is swapping his stick for a soccer ball as part of a high‑profile partnership with Airbnb ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Toronto.
The collaboration, unveiled in early May, introduces the Toronto Two‑Nighter — a curated two‑night stay that bundles a soccer camp led by expert coaches, a live match at Toronto Stadium and exclusive access to fan experiences.
From the rink to the pitch
Celebrini’s involvement extends beyond accommodation. He will host a camp where participants can train alongside Canadian soccer icons Dwayne de Rosario and Kadeisha Buchanan, then test their skills on the stadium’s pristine pitch during a special exhibition match.
In a charitable twist, Airbnb has pledged a set of match tickets to the Steve Nash Foundation, the basketball legend’s eponymous charity, aligning the soccer initiative with a cause close to Celebrini’s heart.
The push comes as travel interest for the tournament spikes. Searches for stays in Toronto and Vancouver have risen more than 30 percent, while Canadian travellers are also eyeing Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City as prime destinations.
Residents of Winnipeg, Ottawa, Regina, Edmonton and Saskatoon are among the most active in seeking host‑city accommodations, underscoring a nationwide appetite for the global event.
Booking the experience
Fans can begin requesting spots for the Toronto Two‑Nighter on June 2 at 9:00 AM Pacific / 12:00 PM Eastern, with only five two‑night packages available, each accommodating a single guest and a plus‑one.
A separate Toronto Stadium Experience, offering a match‑day ticket and a chance to play on the field, will open for booking on June 1 at 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern.
The initiative reflects Airbnb’s broader strategy to embed itself in major sporting moments, leveraging star athletes to create memorable, exclusive experiences for fans while driving a surge in travel bookings across North America.
