That assessment does not align with the numbers. In the 2025 season Stockton posted an 83.6 percent completion rate in the fourth quarter, the highest among his peers, and he was one of only two quarterbacks to throw at least seven touchdowns without an interception in that period.

At Tennessee he threw for 304 yards and three total touchdowns, engineering a comeback from a 21‑7 deficit in Neyland Stadium. A week later he erased a nine‑point hole against Ole Miss without completing an incomplete pass, and he followed that with 289 yards and four scores against the Rebels.
Even when facing top defenses, Stockton delivered. In the Sugar Bowl he amassed 234 yards against a Notre Dame team ranked among the nation’s best, and in a showdown with Texas he posted 229 yards, four touchdowns and an 82 percent completion rate. Down 10‑0 to Auburn he threw for 217 yards and a rushing score to flip the result to 20‑10.
