Michigan State University has released its 2026 men’s soccer schedule, a 22‑match calendar that blends a heavy home presence with a demanding road circuit. The announcement, which includes ten Big Ten Conference fixtures and eleven games at DeMartin Stadium, sets the stage for a season that begins with two exhibition matches before the official campaign opens.
Exhibitions to kick off the campaign
The Spartans will open with a pair of exhibition games against Loyola Chicago and Notre Dame, then settle into a five‑game home stand that begins with a matchup against SIUE on August 27. That contest will also serve as a coaching reunion between Cale Wassermann and Damon Rensing, adding a narrative subplot to the early schedule.
Following the exhibition series, Michigan State will welcome Pitt on September 3 to close out the home stand. The team’s first road trip arrives on September 11 at Kansas City, after which they will travel to Penn State and host Wisconsin later in the month, spreading the early slate across the Midwest.
Conference showdowns and tournament rematches
The regular season features ten Big Ten contests, six of which pit the Spartans against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last year. Among those opponents are the reigning national champion Washington, UCLA, Maryland — the 2025 Big Ten regular‑season champions — and the perennial Battle for the Big Bear against Michigan on October 13.
Additional conference fixtures include a clash with Maryland on October 9 and a meeting with UCLA on October 1, providing a mix of familiar rivals and new challenges as the schedule progresses through the fall.
The campaign will wind down on the road at Indiana on November 4, marking the final test before the conference tournament. Throughout the season, the Spartans will balance the comfort of DeMartin Stadium’s eleven home dates with the rigors of travel, aiming to translate early momentum into a strong finish.
