Season Overview
The 2023 South Carolina High School girls' soccer season wrapped up with a dramatic finish that saw Eastside finish the year as the state's top-ranked team, finishing the campaign with a 22-3 record.
Eastside entered the Class 5A-D2 championship match brimming with confidence, only to see their unbeaten streak snapped by Chapin, who secured a 4-0 victory and claimed the title.
In the Class 5A-D1 final, J.L. Mann finished second in the overall rankings with a 16-3-2 slate, falling to Wanda in a tense penalty shootout that ended 2-1.
St. Joseph's Catholic secured third place with an 11-5 record, but their campaign ended in a 4-0 loss to Oceanside Collegiate in the Class 3A championship.
Greenville rounded out the top four with a 15-5-1 record, narrowly missing the state title after a 1-0 defeat to Eastside in the Upper State finals.
Statewide Impact
The remaining spots in the top ten were claimed by Wade Hampton, Daniel, Wren, Greer Middle College, Southside Christian and Riverside, each of whom saw their seasons end in semifinal or final defeats. Their performances highlighted the depth of competition across the state, with multiple programs finishing with strong records and only narrow margins separating the final rankings.
