Free Wi‑Fi Expands Across the Soccer Complex
ImOn Communications announced this week that its new free public Wi‑Fi service is now active at the Iowa City Kickers Soccer Park, covering all 23 fields within the 108‑acre complex. The rollout coincides with the start of the youth spring leagues and the upcoming summer camps, providing a reliable digital backbone for participants.
The wireless network is engineered to deliver fast, secure connectivity, allowing families and players to check game schedules, share photos, and stay in touch while on the field. City officials say the service is intended to enhance the overall experience for spectators and athletes alike.
City of Iowa City officials highlighted the partnership with ImOn as a model for public‑private collaboration that leverages technology to support community recreation. "We’re excited to see how this infrastructure can bring people together," a city spokesperson said in a statement.
Beyond immediate convenience, the initiative may set a precedent for similar projects at other municipal sports facilities across the region, potentially expanding free internet access to additional public venues.
