Sawyer arrives after a standout senior campaign in which he was named Class 4A first‑team All‑State. He helped the No. 10 seed University High School advance to the state title game, scoring 26 points in the championship and 21 in a semifinal victory.
During the season he averaged 18.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, numbers that caught the eye of Colorado State coaches.
