Wisconsin High School Hockey State Tournaments Relocate to New LEGACY20 Arena

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) has unveiled a three‑year agreement that will see the boys and girls state hockey championships staged at the newly opened LEGACY20 Arena in DeForest beginning in 2027.

The 3,000‑seat facility, which debuted in 2025, boasts two ice sheets, a cutting‑edge sound and lighting system, a modern scoreboard and a high‑definition videoboard, all designed to elevate the spectator experience.

WIAA Executive Director Stephanie Hauser said the partnership reflects the association’s commitment to providing athletes and fans with a premier venue that matches the growing popularity of high school hockey in the state.

Andrew Joudrey, President and CEO of LEGACY20, emphasized that the arena’s capacity and hospitality features make it an ideal setting for the tournaments, noting that the venue is built to host large‑scale events with comfort and accessibility in mind.

The championship games are slated for March 4‑6, 2027, marking the first time the tournaments will be held in DeForest; previously they have taken place at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Madison and at Bob Suter’s LEGACY20 Arena in Middleton.

Since 2002 the girls state hockey tournament has been conducted alongside the boys event, underscoring the longstanding tradition of combined competition that the WIAA hopes to continue at the new site.
