Cleetus McFarland, better known by his online moniker Garrett Mitchell, is set to make his second appearance in the NASCAR Truck Series this weekend, piloting the No. 4 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet at Michigan International Speedway on June 6.
The upcoming race marks a comeback for the driver, who crashed out after just six laps in his debut at Daytona and was classified 37th. That early setback seemed to stall his momentum, but the 27‑year‑old has been quietly rebuilding his résumé.
Earlier this year he posted a top‑five finish in the ARCA East race at Rockingham, followed by a runner‑up result at Talladega, where Andy Jankowiak executed a daring pass in a full‑contact duel to claim victory. Those performances earned him a contract with Richard Childress Racing, a team that believes the driver has finally found the right environment to flourish.
A New Chapter for a Rising Star
Now, as the series heads to Michigan, McFarland hopes to translate his recent ARCA successes into a strong Truck Series showing. The race will be a litmus test for a driver who has already logged eight starts across multiple divisions and is eager to prove that his early promise can be sustained at the highest level of American stock car racing.
The partnership with Richard Childress Racing adds a layer of professionalism and resources that were absent during his initial foray into the Truck field. With the backing of a storied organization and the experience gained from ARCA, McFarland enters Michigan with a clear objective: to finish among the leaders and to secure a foothold that could shape his future in NASCAR.
