A Record‑Breaking Journey
Brooke Huleatt, a star soccer player from Mount Academy, is heading to Harvard University to play soccer. The announcement comes as the teenager prepares to embark on a new chapter that blends elite athletics with rigorous academics.
During her senior year, Huleatt set the single‑season scholastic girls state scoring record with 106 goals in 2025, finishing her high school career with 288 goals — second only to the all‑time leader in New York girls soccer history. Her offensive firepower was on full display in a 10‑0 victory over Rondout Valley High, where she netted all ten goals.
Beyond the pitch, she added two indoor track records to her résumé, clocking 24.67 seconds in the 200‑meter run and 38.83 seconds in the 300‑meter run for Section 9. Those performances underscore a rare blend of speed and endurance.
Huleatt says she is excited to join Harvard’s Division 1 women’s soccer team and values the environment that prizes both competition and scholarship. “I’m looking forward to playing for Harvard’s Division 1 women’s soccer team,” she said, emphasizing how the university’s academic reputation matches her athletic ambitions.
Having started the sport in seventh grade under coach George Vizvary, Huleatt credits much of her development to that early mentorship. She also looks forward to being part of a team that includes her brothers Thomas, Connor and John, who have cheered her from the sidelines throughout her record‑breaking run.
The move to Cambridge will place her among a select group of student‑athletes who manage demanding coursework while competing at the highest collegiate level. Harvard’s commitment to integrating academics with athletics appears to have been a decisive factor in her decision.
