A Day of Recognition
Mount Pleasant Town Council gathered last week to celebrate the achievements of two local recreation teams that have brought distinction to the community through state‑level competition.
The Stingers basketball squad capped a dominant season by defending their state title, battling through a field of 54 teams to reclaim the championship that had eluded them last year.
Meanwhile, the Piranhas swim team turned heads at the recent state meet, where they amassed a haul of 10 bronze, 12 silver and nine gold medals amid a field of more than 1,000 athletes.
Both teams were lauded not only for their on‑court and pool performances but also for embodying the spirit of teamwork and perseverance that the council seeks to promote.
Beyond the Medal Stand
Mount Pleasant Recreation’s unified programs, which blend athletes with and without disabilities, continue to expand access to team sports for children and adults alike, reinforcing the town’s commitment to inclusive play.
